Following our fundraising for Birmingham Women & Children’s Hospital, we were invited to attend a special event last Sunday at the Library in Birmingham as one of the Hospital charity’s 100 Heroes.
It’s the charity’s first physical event in three years, and Aimee and Cristina represented Forever at the event. Along with other fundraisers, Forever was commemorated with a special red balloon at the front of the hospital which will be on display for the next 12 months.
We want to say a big thank you to the wider Forever family who generously donated. You may remember that we focused our exercise activity on walking, mountain climbing, cycling and running to raise £3,000 for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital charity.
We are extremely fortunate to have this specialist paediatric centre in our area; a number of Forever families have directly experienced the care and support of BCH so we were extremely motivated to reach our target of £3,000; the amount that is needed to provide the care for a child and family support for one year. Given the constraints placed on us all by the pandemic; not being able to be together we chose individual exercise goals that would challenge and motivate us and that we could achieve safely.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital cares for 90,000 children and young people across the West Midlands each year including kids from Warwick and the surrounding areas. Its charity raises funds for projects and services that fall outside the remit of the NHS. This includes helping to improve hospital environment and patient experience to make the time children have to spend with at the hospital more comfortable, helping to find breakthrough cures and treatment through research funding and enabling the hospital to purchase the latest state-of-the-art equipment.
